Spring Break 2009

So for Spring Break this year I went to John's Island, South Carolina, to work with their local Habitat for Humanity Chapter (Sea Island Habitat). There were about 14 total UNCW students and one "adult" lol. We all went down on the 14th of March where we had Saturday, Sunday, and Monday as free days. Saturday the girls in my car and myself stopped in Myrtle Beach to shop at the outlets for a while. Then we met up with the rest of the group on John's Island. We went to dinner at one of the oldest restaurants I have ever seen. Apparently they are not known for efficiency and they do NOT like to have new customers.. Sunday we spend the day at the beach where I was not able to get any sun... very sad. Monday was our day to go to downtown Charleston. We arrived at 9:30 in the morning and did not leave until 11:30 at night! That's a total of 14 hours (I have gotten my fill of Charleston lol). King street is where we spent the majority of our time. It has all of the Richy rich shops and stores which none of us could afford, therefore I did not buy one thing all day. That night we all had dinner together followed by a ghost tour of downtown. Tuesday our task was to put siding on a house which was built by the group that came before ours. Wednesday, myself and 4 other girls went to work at the Re-Store down the road from our work site. The Habitat Re-Store takes donations of home furnishings as well as building supplies which they turn around and sell to make money to build more homes. Thursday and Friday was spent building sheds for the homes being built and to be built. It was fairly easy but my favorite part was being the assistant to the shed door expert. I came home wanting alot of power tools so I could make my own shed :) Here are a few pictures taken throughout the week.

Instead of a honey-do list, I'll start a niece-do list, now that you are tool goddess.
